Fayemi: Ekiti Cargo Airport will boost Local, Foreign Export of Agric Products


Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has said apart from offering means of transportation, the international cargo airport under construction in the state will facilitate export of agriculture produce when operational.

Fayemi said the state is also planning to grade over 1,000 kilometres of rural roads across the 16 local government areas of the state to increase farm produce for local and foreign income earnings. 1,000 km Rural Roads Construction will make Ekiti Food Basket of the Country – Fayemi


The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi has said Ekiti has the capacity to feed the Southwest geopolitical zone and the country when the agricultural potentials of the state is fully harnessed with the activation of all its plans. Dr. Fayemi stated this at a stakeholders’ sensitization meeting on Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), in Ado-Ekiti on Friday.

He said Ekiti, being an agrarian State, has been grossly underutilized by residents who were predominantly farmers, hence, the determination of his administration to construct 1,000 km rural roads from farms to markets across the State. RAAMP Commences In Ekiti State


The World Bank has disclosed that Ekiti State would soon join the list of states on the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).

Giving the hints in Ado Ekiti when the World Bank team and the National office of RAAMP paid a visit to Ekiti RAAMP office, the World Bank Task Team Leader, Fahard Ahmed explained that with the level of preparedness of Ekiti State coupled with the robust relationship that exists between the World Bank and Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the state is in a good position to join the project by January 2020.
